Master Gardener Training Applications Open

***Applications are open now until January 31st! The Master Gardener Volunteer Training is a 12-week course that starts at the beginning of March and ends on the first day of June, with breaks in the first week of April and at the end of May. It is a hybrid course, with virtual coursework each week, and in person meetings 2-3 times per month. Virtual coursework is assigned weekly, but is otherwise self-paced. In-person sessions are on Saturdays and are 5 hours long, including a break for lunch. In-person meetings occur at both of our offices in Hudson and Acra, as well as locally owned nurseries, gardens, and arboretums. Travel accommodations can be granted. The training costs $200 with an additional $50 deposit that is returned after completing the required 150 hours of volunteer service. Limited scholarships opportunities are available. Trained MGVs volunteer to teach classes and workshops, maintain our Demonstration Gardens, provide information and soil pH testing at events, answer questions for the Hort Diagnostic Hotline, and work with partners on community gardening projects. To remain an active MGV, one must volunteer 75 hours per year for the first two years, after which the volunteer requirement reduces to 50 hours per year.
